Accessibility Statement for MyGlasgow mobile application

Glasgow City Council is committed to making its mobile application accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to MyGlasgow mobile application version 6.846 26 October 2023.

Glasgow City Council run this mobile application. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this mobile application. For example, which means you should be able to:

• Navigate most of the mobile application using your device
• Navigate most of the mobile application using speech recognition software
• Listen to most of the mobile application using a screen reader

We've also made the application text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this mobile application is

We know some parts of this mobile application are not fully accessible:

• The application does not rotate when using a keyboard
• Some pages have a colour contrast that is not accessible
• When navigating the map menu with a keyboard, keyboard focus can move into the menu items when they are collapsed.

Technical information about this mobile applications accessibility

Compliance status

This mobile application is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

Android 

The application cannot be viewed in landscape mode - WCAG 1.3.4

App Menu options - The options at the bottom of the app have sufficient contrast except when in a selected and focussed state - WCAG 1.4.3

Keyboard - The 'here' link has the full URL listed, however when using an external keyboard, it is not possible to focus on and activate the link - WCAG 2.1.1

iOS 

The application cannot be viewed in landscape mode - WCAG 1.3.4

Search "Placeholder" Text - The latest update states the colour used is #00000 however visually the text does not appear to be black, and doesn't have sufficient contrast - WCAG 1.4.3

On some reports and clear Filter Text - The latest update states the colour used is #00000 however visually the text does not appear to be black, and doesn't have sufficient contrast - WCAG 1.4.3

Keyboard - select components on the Settings screen  - partially fixed as the select component on the Settings screen cannot not be used with a keyboard - WCAG 2.1.1

What we're doing to improve accessibility

A wider strategic project is ongoing to improve digital services for citizens which is being introduced in phases over the coming year.

We have attempted to simplify and improve the mobile application interface by removing any unnecessary barriers in line with accessibility standards.

Our accessibility audit was performed by The Accessibility Monitoring team at the Digital Cabinet's Office. The application was last tested on 24 October 2023 by The Accessibility Monitoring team.
