Road Safety Services in Glasgow
As Executive Member of Land and Environmental Services, I am delighted to welcome you to our new Road Safety guide which should give you a comprehensive overview of the service offered by Glasgow City Council’s dedicated Road Safety Unit.
In Glasgow we are fiercely proud of the reductions we’ve made to our road casualty figures. The Government has set reduction targets for all local authorities to be met or, better still, improved upon by the year 2010. Here in Glasgow we are very much on course to exceed the expectation of the Government targets. However, we cannot and must not be complacent. Road accidents cost the city around £100 million each year, but no price tag can be put on the suffering and loss caused.
