The Licensing Board regularly receives requests for information about licensing; most requests are made under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 ("FOISA").

This page sets out to provide information in relation to the most common enquiries. If you are considering making a Freedom of Information ("FOI") request please first check whether the information you are seeking is available below.

The Licensing Board aims to be as open as possible, however the Board is not required to make all information it holds publicly available. Some information requested under FOI may be withheld where an exemption is applicable.

The most commonly applied exemptions are Section 25 - Information otherwise accessible and Section 27 - Information intended for future publication.

Where an exemption is a "qualified" exemption it is subject to a public interest test. This means that the Licensing Board can only apply the exemptions to information when the board are satisfied that the public interest in withholding the information outweighs the public interest in disclosing it.

Further general information on FOISA include guidance on exemptions, is available from the Scottish Information Commissioner.

Information about other people

The City of Glasgow Licensing Board holds personal data about other people. As such we have certain responsibilities as a "data controller" in terms of the Data Protection Act 1998.

If you are requesting personal information about other people or an address that is not your own please note that we are not able to disclose this information to you. To do so would be in breach of the Data Protection Act.

The following information is available in this section:

1. Premises currently licensed to sell alcohol

Use the link below to access a register of all premises that currently hold a premises licence to sell alcohol. The document contains a summary of each premises licence including details of the licence holder operating hours and authorised activities.

*Please note that this document is updated on a 4 week rotation. The date of production for the document is included in section 5 of the document.

2. Premises currently licensed to sell alcohol (dataset)

Use the link below to access a dataset (excel format) of all premises that currently hold a Premises Licence to sell alcohol. The document contains a basic summary of each Premises Licence including operating hours and authorised core activities.

Making a freedom of information request

If the information you are seeking is not available on this page you can submit an FOI request to the Licensing Board to see if we hold the information.

As the Licensing Board is an independent body separate from Glasgow City Council, requests concerning information held by the Licensing Board should be sent directly to the Board and not via the Council's Freedom of Information Office.

Please address any requests to the Clerk of the Licensing Board and submit then using the details provided.

Our Publication Scheme

As a public body, the City of Glasgow Licensing Board is required by the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 to prepare and maintain a "publication scheme."

Publication schemes have to specify the classes of information that a public body publishes or intends to publish, specify how it publishes the information (or how it intends to do so), and indicate whether information is provided free or for a charge. All publication schemes require to be approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner, an independent official responsible for overseeing the operation of freedom of information in Scotland.

The Licensing Board has chosen to adopt the Model Publication Scheme published by the Information Commissioner. The publication scheme and guide to information tell you about the information which the Licensing Board chooses to publish without waiting to be asked.
