Development Forum

Glasgow Development Forum was officially established by a small group of the development community in Glasgow and Glasgow City Council (GCC) in January 2021. Chaired by Simon Welsh of HFD Group and Stuart Patrick of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the Forum has been designed to provide enhanced (and structured) collaboration between GCC and the Development community whilst promoting a stronger partnership between the public and private sector.

The Forum provides for pro-active, two-way discussion on matters affecting development activity in Glasgow, such as Planning, structural changes with GCC that impact development, Inward Investment/Economic Development and City Marketing etc, all with a view to maximise and harness the collective knowledge and expertise of the Forum, in a group collaboration.

Initial priorities include market intelligence and input into City Centre Taskforce (which has already been successful in leveraging funding for property market analysis), Safe return of non-essential offices, Innovation (funding and decarbonisation), Enabling infrastructure (transport, digital, energy) and Invest Glasgow, Team Glasgow and wider city messaging. The Forum meets quarterly with a pre-agenda circulated in advance to cover the relevant topics for that session and actions from the previous meeting.

While meeting attendance will be managed around practical numbers, all parties are keen to in increase participation to anyone engaged with development in the City with the ability to focus individual participation on topics most relevant to your area of development. Should you be interested in participating then please contact Sarah Heaney.
