This page lists all our free health, wellbeing, equality and diversity training available for staff - along with other health and wellbeing events you can take part in. You can have a look at what's available each month by scrolling down each section.  Past training and event information is still available to view in the related content section at the bottom of the page.

To register to attend please just click the sign-up link provided. 

We work in partnership with several providers to deliver our training - so it could be delivered online or in person. Please check the details when registering.  All training courses delivered meet our Equality Outcomes, Healthy Working Lives programme and Health and Wellbeing initiatives.

Spring Step Count Challenge - Get your team ready!

Walking can improve your mental health as well as your physical health. Regular walking can reduce your risk of depression and dementia by 20-30%, improve your sleep, and prevent and reduce anxiety and stress.

There are many fun ways to walk more during your working day - such as lunchtime walks, taking the stairs instead of the lift, or having walking meetings.

We have partnered up with Paths for All again this year to provide free places for GCC teams of 5 to get involved in the national 8-week Spring Step Count Challenge. So don't delay, sign up today!

Where possible, we've included a mix of online and in-person events, e-learning modules that can be accessed anytime, and live events on different days and times to make opportunities as accessible as possible. We have highlighted where online events will be recorded and can be accessed at a time that suits - just click on the link provided, allowing a few days for the providers to upload online.

Pilates is a fun way of improving your posture & muscle tone, relieving stress & tension, and enhancing joint mobility and balance. This class is open to all levels of experience.

Good Sleep Supports Good Health - GGC NHS

Sleep is essential for our physical health and immune system, as well as for our emotional and mental wellbeing. Working from home, money worries and health concerns have all added to make this an unsettling and stressful time for many. This 90-minute session will focus on the challenges of sleeping well and the importance of good sleep; providing sources of information and support.

Seated Acupressure Massage - Incorporate Massage Sessions (cost involved)

Discover the wellbeing benefits that can be gained from taking time out of your busy day to relax with a 15 minute (fully clothed) seated acupressure massage.

The massage uses Swedish Massage Techniques and includes head, neck, shoulders, back, hands and arms, to help reduce stress.

  • Booked sessions take place, with Grace Taylor from Incorporate Massage, in the privacy of our City Chambers Wellbeing Room at 2.24 East Building - John Street.
  • Your session costs £16 for 15 minutes - please pay Grace on the day.
  • 8 available morning slots - every 15 minutes from 10am to 12noon.
  • 8 available afternoon slots - every 15 minutes from 12.30 to 2.30pm.
  • Booking conditions apply and 24 hrs notice required for cancellations (or you may still be charged).

Faith and Me at Work - Staff Event

Our BAME network invites staff to come together from different religions and cultures to build friendship, respect and understanding. This is an opportunity to share, connect and learn and make our workplace more welcoming. This event is open to all staff from all religious backgrounds or no religious affiliation. The aim is to develop a greater understanding of our diversity, faith practices and discuss how we work together to develop respectful conversations in the workplace.

Feeling sluggish and need to get your oomph back? Then why not come along to our fun and interactive session on MS Teams which is aimed at anyone with an interest. We will look at how our work environments contribute to sedentary behaviour, and discuss some easy to implement solutions for being more active during our work days. Panel Discussion: How to support an employee with a critical illness to remain in work - PAM OH Solutions

The PAM clinical team will discuss:

  • Why critical illness is on the rise and how long individuals with conditions ranging from cancer to heart or Parkinson's disease can expect to remain in their role.
  • The role of managers for encourage employees struggling with symptoms to come forward for support, instead of attempting to hide their condition.

How to balance the needs of the individual with the organisation and adjust support, in keeping with legal requirements, as someone's condition progresses over time.

Supporting Menopause in the Workplace - GGC NHS

Menopause symptoms can have a real and detrimental impact on women in the workplace. However, the good news is that by making small adjustments to workplace policy and practice, employers can make a real difference to the lives of their employees who are experiencing menopause. This session is for anyone who wants to find out how their organisation can provide employees who are experiencing menopause with the support they need. While the session will not be a clinical discussion around symptoms we will discuss how staff are affected, share self-help ideas and examples of good practice from employers.

Introduction to Mental Health

In the run up to Mental Health Awareness Week on 12 May, our focus for this month's GOLD Module of the Month is Mental Health.

This modules explores what mental health is, the causes, common and complex mental health conditions and the vulnerable groups who are more likely to experience mental ill health.

Our workplace partners, See Me, provide a free, easy to use e-learning programme for managers and staff.
