Glasgow City Council is developing the Glasgow Cycle Network that comprises 375km of identified routes.

Glasgow recognises that cycling has an important role in contributing to the health and wellbeing of those who live, work and visit the city - this plan will give you an indepth look at how we intend to make Cycling the biggest participation activity in the City by 2020.   Further Information

Consultation - Cathkin Braes Country Park - Development of Mountain Biking Cathkin Braes Country Park has been selected as the venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games mountain bike races. In preparation for this and to provide a permanent new facility, it is proposed to build a series of new trails within the country park. Further Information  Cathkin Braes consultation




Glasgow Cycle Network

The network currently includes over 200km of routes and is constantly being worked on to improve and extend the available routes. To help cater for all standards of cyclists, the network includes:

  • cycle lanes on the carriageway
  • off-road cycle tracks
  • designated routes in parks
  • signalled crossings at main roads
  • quality bus corridors
  • advanced stop lines at traffic signals
  • traffic calmed or lightly trafficked streets

To help the people of Glasgow who wish to cycle for pleasure, to work or to school, Glasgow City Council has produced a selection of cycle leaflets

These leaflets cover both the extensive commuter routes throughout the city and also long distance routes that provide access to the countryside.
